How Long Does Slab Foundation Repair Services Usually Take?

One of the biggest worries homeowners have when they hear "foundation repair" isn't just the cost—it's the disruption. Many people imagine weeks of construction, muddy crews taking over their yard, and having to move into a hotel.

The good news? It is rarely that drastic.

At Stable Home Foundation Repair LLC, we find that the vast majority of our projects in the Shreveport-Bossier City area are completed in 2 to 4 days.

If you have been putting off repairs because you are afraid of the timeline, here is a realistic breakdown of what to expect.

The Short Answer

For most residential homes in Northwest Louisiana, the timeline looks like this:

  • Minor Crack Repairs: 2–4 hours

  • Average Foundation Stabilization (Piering): 2-4 days

  • Extensive House Leveling or Complex Repairs: 4–5 days

Unlike a kitchen remodel or a roof replacement, foundation repair is surgical. We are focused on specific points around your home's perimeter, which allows us to work efficiently without turning your entire life upside down.

What Factors Change the Timeline?

While 2–4 days is standard, every home is different. Here are the main factors that might extend the process:

1. The Number of Piers

This is the biggest factor. A foundation that has settled on just one corner might only need 4 or 5 piers, which can be installed in 2 days. A home that requires stabilization around the entire perimeter might need 20+ piers, which naturally takes longer to excavate, install, and lift.

2. Weather Conditions

We live in Louisiana—weather happens. While we can work through light rain, heavy storms or lightning can pause exterior digging for safety reasons. However, once the piers are in the ground, the lifting process can often proceed regardless of the weather.

3. Accessibility

Can our crew easily get to the problem area? If we have to work around extensive landscaping, decks, or AC units, or if we have to remove sections of a patio to access the foundation, the prep work will add time to the clock.

A Typical 4-Day Project Schedule (6-12 Pier Install)

If your home requires a standard stabilization, here is what those three days actually look like:

  • Day 1: Excavation & Prep. The crew arrives, protects your landscaping, and digs the access holes at specific intervals around your foundation.

  • Day 2: Concrete Pour. This is the big day. We install the piers, pour the concrete and install the jacks.

  • Day 3: Lifting and Second Pour. We lift the home to maximum practical recovery and complete the second pour.

  • Day 4: Backfill & Cleanup. Once the home is stable, we fill the holes, patch any concrete breakouts, and clean up the yard. Our goal is to leave your property looking as close to how we found it as possible.

Do I Need to Move Out?

Almost never. For 99% of our projects, you can stay in your home comfortably while we work. The work is mostly exterior, and while you might hear some noise during the lifting phase, your water, electricity, and HVAC usually stay on throughout the process.

The Bottom Line

Don't let the fear of a long construction project stop you from securing your home. Foundation problems only get worse (and more expensive) with time. Most issues can be fixed in less than a week, giving you peace of mind for a lifetime.
